I bought my first ever road bike in February of this year (2019) and never looked back, since this blog post i have achieved Over 7,000 kms and climbed at total of 41,660m. My target for the year was originally 2,500 kms as i didn't know what to expect from the sport but as you can see that has been blown out of the water.
My first road bike purchase is a Canyon 8.0 Endurance CF SL bought direct from Canyon. The bike came pretty much with everything I wanted for my budget range, Disc Brakes, Di2, Fully carbon etc.
As with all hobbies once you have taste of it you just want to improve the bike, weather it be the looks, performance enhancements, there is always something to upgrade...and spend money on !
I have listed all the parts i have upgraded during the course of the year, the plan for next year might be to upgrade my road bike and use my current one for a home zwift setup, but we shall what 2020 brings.
Here are the upgrades made during 2019:-
- Upgraded Wheels to Progress Cycle Alloys
- Upgraded Seat to Specialized Pro Arc Elaston
- Upgraded Bottom Bracket to Cermic Speed BB
- Upgraded Pulley Rollers to Cermic Speed Pulleys
- Purchased Stages Cycling L/R Crank Power Meter
I have rode quite a bit this year and getting to the fitness I currently want to be at where I can cycle on long rides at a comftable pace, I look forward in implementing a training plan in 2020 so i can improve my overall fitness.
Looking forward into 2020 I also plan on doing some events, I have entered myself into the Ride London 100, I will cover 2020 cycle events in a separate blog post.
